After shooting a kid in the stomach and leaving the scene, a shooter forced a high school in Nebraska to go into lockdown on Tuesday morning.
After police and helicopters were sent to the scene at Omaha's Northwest High School, authorities said the suspect had been taken into custody.
According to KETV, the casualty was a 15-year-old pupil at
the school who was admitted to the hospital in severe condition.
The gunman was characterized by police as "young," according to early
reports. However, no description of the suspect was provided since the Omaha
Police Department declared the arrest to have ended the "threat to the
community."
Roncalli Catholic High School and Marian High School, which
are close, were also put on lockdown after the shooting.
It took around thirty minutes for the authorities to announce that lockdowns
would be in place until the active shooter incident was resolved and the
suspect was taken into custody.
According to reports, a reunion space has been put up near the high school
football field so that parents may connect with their kids.
It occurs just a few days after the
deadliest school shooting in Georgian history occurred at Apalachee High
School, when 14-year-old student Colt Gray is accused of opening fire on 13
people, killing four.
